April 22, 2025 (Toronto) – Keilhauer has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project—marking the 12th time the North American furniture manufacturer has received this prestigious honour.
This prestigious award celebrates organizations that are leading the way in building a culture of environmental responsibility. Winners are selected for their exceptional sustainability initiatives, meaningful reductions in environmental impact, and engagement of employees in green programs that have become integral to the company’s identity.
“For over 40 years, Keilhauer’s commitment to Design That Sustains has guided everything we do,” says Meghan Sherwin, President of Keilhauer. “We are honoured to once again be recognized among Canada’s Greenest Employers—an inspiring group of companies who are leading the charge toward a more sustainable future for our country.”
To determine the winners, the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers evaluate each company based on four criteria:
- the unique environmental initiatives or programs they have developed,
- whether they have been successful in reducing their own environmental footprint,
- whether their employees are involved in these programs and contribute unique skills,
- whether their environmental initiatives have become linked to the employer’s public identity, attracting new employees or customers.
Sustainability Highlights Contributing to Keilhauer’s 2025 Submission
- Launched five new carbon-neutral product families—Abl, Dais, Fridae, Swish, and Toob.
- Redesigned our flagship New York Showroom with a sustainability-first approach, using materials such as carpeting with net-positive carbon and water impacts; stone and tile from suppliers operating on 100% recovered waste water and solar energy; and retro-fitted lighting, appliances, and HVAC for maximum energy efficiency.
- Reduced packaging waste with our innovative blanket-wrapping program that ships over 70% of our new products reuseable blankets rather than cardboard boxes.
- Donated 540 pounds of surplus materials through our partnership with Pass the Feather – Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada supporting the preservation of Indigenous art forms and culture.
- Partnered with Toronto Bee Rescue, a local organization specializing in the humane relocation of honeybee colonies. This initiative supports pollinator conservation and gives us the opportunity to share the sweet reward—local honey—with all Keilhauer employees.
- Published Keilhauer’s annual Corporate Sustainability Report, reaffirming the company’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) transparency.
Keilhauer has a long-standing history of environmental stewardship. Since the early 2000s, the company has invested in clean electricity credits and focused on waste diversion. Today, Keilhauer operates zero-waste-to-landfill facilities, has eliminated water use in manufacturing processes, and offers 26 carbon-neutral product families. The company prioritizes responsible material sourcing, using FSC®-certified wood, and textiles with recycled content, manufactured in zero-waste, clean-water, and carbon-neutral facilities.
