Swurve and Epix Win Green Good Design

June 1, 2022 (Toronto) – The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design have recognized Keilhauer with two 2022 Green GOOD DESIGN® Awards. The products that have received this recognition are Swurve, the industry’s first carbon neutral office chair, and the Epix collection, a line of 100% recyclable seating, tables and storage that are designed for collaboration and creativity in the modern workplace.

“We are honored to be recipients of these Green GOOD DESIGN® Awards,” says Mike Keilhauer, President. “At Keilhauer, we consider ourselves to be design activists, so it means a great deal when our products get recognized for their sustainability and contribution to a healthier planet.”

Green GOOD DESIGN® identifies and emphasizes the world’s most important examples of sustainable design and develops a public awareness program for the general public about which global companies are doing the best job for our world environments via their ecological projects and sustainable products.

For the 2022 competition, members of The European Center’s International Advisory Committee – worldwide leaders in the design industry – served as the jury and selected over 160 new products, programs, people, environmental planning, and architecture as outstanding examples of Green Design from 30 countries.

As Keilhauer’s first carbon neutral product, Swurve has been a project of passion for designer Andrew Jones and for the company’s Design for Environment team. Keilhauer took every possible step to reduce carbon emissions: from sustainably sourcing materials, and responsible manufacturing, to a carefully planned end-of-life and recyclability plan. Where carbon emissions remain, such as during transportation or that accrued over the length of its usable life, Keilhauer invests in carbon reduction and climate change mitigation projects to offset. Verified by third parties, every Swurve sold produces net-zero carbon emissions.

Designed by Swedish design firm Form Us With Love, Epix is an innovative collection comprised of tables, seating and storage that provide limitless possibilities for customizing ideal gathering spaces in the office, promoting both creativity and collaboration. Every piece in the Epix collection is crafted solely from the highest quality pure materials, such as PET felt and aluminum, ensuring that every part of the collection is 100% recyclable.
