Cleaning and Disinfection Guidelines of Keilhauer Products
In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19, please follow cleaning and disinfecting guidelines from local health authorities, the CDC and any instructions on cleaning and disinfecting provided on product labels. Keilhauer has, in partnership with our suppliers, prepared the following cleaning and disinfecting recommendations for our products.
In general, health authorities recommend using soap and water to help fight the spread of Coronavirus. While you may want to clean and disinfect with bleach “it is like using a bludgeon to swat a fly,” says Jane Greatorex, a virologist at Cambridge University. “It can also corrode metal and lead to other respiratory health problems if inhaled too much over time”. Lisa Casanova, an environmental health scientist at Georgia State University and other experts instead recommend using milder soaps, like dish soap, to sanitize surfaces indoors and outdoors.
Fabrics:
Dust or clean with a soft cloth, dampened with water and soap or disinfectant. Do not scrub. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals. Wool fabrics should be left unused for 48 hours, if that is not an option they can be disinfected with ethanol.
Leather/Faux Leather:
Dust or clean with a soft cloth, dampened with water and soap or disinfectant. Do not scrub. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals. For stains, consult a professional upholstery cleaning service.
Wood, Laminate, Metal and Chair Shells:
Wipe with a soft damp cloth and soap or disinfectant. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals.
Caution:
If you use cleaning products, please ensure they are safe to use on the material in question. Test the cleaning solution first on a hidden surface and check for fading or discoloration before use on full product.
