Proposition 65
At Keilhauer, we take the health and safety of our employees and customers very seriously. As a family owned business, we have always prioritized the health of our employees, clients, and the environment.
Proposition 65, officially named the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, was passed into law in 1986 by the state of California with the original intent of protecting drinking water sources from chemical contamination. The law demands that any commercial products that cause exposure to a list of 800+ ingredients and chemicals must be labelled as potentially causing cancer or reproductive harm.
Keilhauer has worked closely with our suppliers and partners to ensure that any materials found in our assortment do not require Prop 65 warning labels. However, if customers shipping to the state of California wish to use their own vinyl on Keilhauer furniture, we must apply the following Prop 65 label to the finished product:
If your vinyl does not include vinyl chloride or any other chemical on the Prop 65 list, you may provide us with testing results or fabric composition so that we may refrain from applying the label. For more information on Prop 65, please visit www.p65warnings.ca.gov/furniture.
For more information on the steps we have taken at Keilhauer to prevent exposure to harmful chemicals, you may contact sustainability@keilhauer.com.

Commitments & Community Involvement
Ellen MacArthur Foundation: Keilhauer is part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an organization that works with businesses, governments, and institutions to encourage sustainable practices, innovate new solutions, and shift away from the traditional linear economy of “take, make, dispose.”
AIA 2030 Commitment: In 2021, Keilhauer signed on to the AIA 2030 Commitment with the ultimate aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier, more sustainably built environment. We pledged to track and report the energy performance of our projects annually, work towards reducing the environmental impact of our designs, improve energy efficiency, and promote sustainable building practices.
Pass the Feather – Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada: The Indigenous Arts Collective of Canada (IACC) is a women-led not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing endangered Indigenous art forms and enriching lives through Indigenous arts and culture. In 2023, Keilhauer donated 540 pounds of leather and fabric rolls to IACC for reuse, growing our partnership sixfold since 2022.
Charitable Auctions: Throughout the year, Keilhauer donates products to several local charities. Our 6C at Home chairs were donated to Melanoma Canada, Make-A-Wish Canada, Squash Dementia Charity Tournament, Lymphoma Canada, Squash Ontario Charity Golf Classic, the Children’s Aid Foundation Charity Teddy Bear Gala, and others.
Holiday Food Drive: As part of our annual holiday food drive in December 2023, we collected and donated essential non-perishable food items that provided over 100 meals to the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities, a local food bank.
Toronto Bee Rescue: In our efforts to safeguard and foster the vital bee population, Keilhauer has joined forces with the Toronto Bee Rescue, a locally owned enterprise specializing in the humane relocation of honeybee colonies, swarm collection, and apiary management. Through this collaboration, we proudly sponsor a full hive share in our community.
