EOOS, founded 1995 by Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann and Harald Gruendl, is an international design studio from Vienna that currently focuses on furniture design/product design and social design. After a decade of store design for clients such as Armani and Adidas, the social design division was established in 2010 and implements design projects in the Global South with NGOs such as the Gates Foundation and the Red Cross. As a design studio that sets great store by the designer’s imprimatur, EOOS develops furniture and products for international manufacturers in Europe and North America, including Alessi, Bulthaup, Carl Hansen & Søn, Geiger, Keilhauer, Lamy, Laufen or Walter Knoll.
EOOS views design as a poetic discipline. Design history and corporate culture, the starting point for auteur-led design projects, are translated into a specific formal language for each object, based on long-standing partnerships. “Poetical analysis” is an EOOS design tool that formulates images, rituals and stories as guidelines and ideas for projects.
EOOS has won over 250 international design awards and represented Austria at the Architecture Biennale in Venice in 2016 and the Milan Design Triennial in 2019. Its work has been shown in exhibitions at renowned design museums such as the V&A London, Design Museum London, Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, and MK&G Hamburg, with solo exhibitions at Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan, Kunsthaus Wien, and MAK Vienna. In collaboration with Keilhauer, EOOS has designed five award-winning product families Juxta, Cahoots, Unifi, Agyl, and Weve, earning top honors from Best of NeoCon, Metropolis Likes, and the HiP Awards. In 2025, their book Designing Impact was published by Lars Müller.
